Paula is a museum exhibit designer, graphic artist and illustrator. She has years of experience designing for museums, higher education, and an assortment of other interesting employers and clients. A college friend originally introduced her to Tarot. Over the years she had occasionally thought of creating her own deck, and has finally gotten around to it with Boadicea’s Tarot of Earthly Delights. It is currently a work in progress. Paula is a contributing artist to the collaborative Tarot Pink for Cancer deck. She also provided graphic design for Cheryl Fair’s Magical Realism Tarot deck. She has a BS degree in fine art from Frostburg University of Maryland.
Boadicea’s Tarot of Earthly Delights is a current work in progress. These illustrations are my original versions of traditional Tarot card images. Some elements reflect classic Tarot iconography
and some are unique to my personal interpretation of the cards.
Primarily I appreciate Tarot cards for the creative and artistic presentation of rich and complex symbolism. Some cards represent big ideas such as major life events or stages of your inner journey. Others may correspond to personalities or situations we may encounter. Reading cards or having them read for you is a fascinating way to gain a deeper understanding of your daily and inner life.
The card illustrations are carefully assembled puzzles composited from fine art, natural history, vintage advertising, anatomical drawings, historical or personal photos, and various other public domain sources. These elements are blended together in Adobe Photoshop.
